Why are LEDs the right solution?

In light of ever rising energy bills, the downturn in the economy and an increased pressure/responsibility on businesses to reduce their carbon footprint, there has never been a better time to decrease both operational and environmental costs. A simple way to do this is by starting with lighting. LED lighting is also likely to see a quick return on investment. What LED replacements are available?

LED lighting solutions can generally be a mix of both completely new lighting fixtures and retrofit (like-for-like), ie direct replacement lamps installed within the standard existing fixtures.
